MP3 & Playlist for Lost & Found, 7/25/05

two for the price of one
when everyone was stoned

It's All Rock & Roll

Well, I was pretty burned out by the time I wrapped up Coffeetime on Thursday (you don't know the pressure, man!) - and still hadn't snapped out of it come time for Lost & Found this week...but the subconscious mind took over and salvaged some forgotten gems from off the shelf, and some "new arrivals" helped punch things up...what am I talking about? Who knows - I guess I still haven't "snapped out of it!"

Some cool sets this week, the second set of mellow countrified gold is pure aural THC, and the "hard rock" set was bolstered by a couple of last-minute JP yard sale finds over the weekend - I want to go back and tell the guy that the records he bought when he was 13 years old were the basis of an entire segment on the radio!

Still in streaming MP3 mode this week, until I find out where Comcast is hiding my "free web space," but there's just a short lead-in, so please click on the image below of those handsome-to-their-Mums-only lads, The Jeff Beck Group, and have a listen, mate! Full playlist even further down the line...good luck finding 'em all!

Coffeetime - 7/21 Guest Slot - MP3 & Playlist

cuppa cuppa cuppa cuppa cup
beatnik or just beat?

Guest slots rule! I have been a fan of Angelynn Grant's Coffeetime for many years, going back to hearing the "featured soundtrack of the week" as I opened and priced endless boxes of books in the back room of a shopping mall bookstore back in the early 90's, loving the mix of cool jazz and vocal tracks that she has shaped into something special. I sweated out the selections for days prior, and Good Lord I never realized how hard it would be to read off all those session players! Many thanks to Angelynn for letting me fill in, and everyone please check out Coffeetime every Thursday from 2-4PM EST on 88.1 WMBR Cambridge, MA.
Click on the photo of legendary Bostonian Johnny Hodges below to hear me stutter and stammer my way through the recounting of bass trombonists and the guy who plays the tipple - plus 2 hours of the finest jazz I can provide!

hot fun in the summertime

THE HEAT IS ON

After a week of cool, wet weather - "April in July" as I heard it called, the mercury shot up today for my return to the airwaves. Why do I keep talking about the weather in these posts? I don't know - let's talk about the music. Some old favorites revisited, some new finds unearthed. A fun show, which flew by in no time - lots of funny & friendly phone calls. Love is all around!

So, I am now that much closer to posting much more listener-friendly archives...the software is on hand and being used, I just need to set up my hosting space and hopefully by the next show you will have a choice of hour one or two, available for download instead of just streaming, and with the long lead-ins cut off. For now, please CLICK on the picture of the late Ray Davis BELOW to listen to the WMBR stream of this week's show! Short lead in for this one, too, only 2 minutes or so.
