MP3's & Playlists for Lost & Found, 12/12/2005 & 12/26/05

oh mama
it's not feasible

You Play the Black, and the Red Comes Up

Sorry for the delay in updates, but I'm here to hit you with a 2-for-1, 4 hours of funky acidic countrified slop! Holiday season has almost passed, sanity is slowly returning, and the underground and overlooked sounds have arrived at last. Throw away that tree before it dries out - and next year, keep the cats away from the tinsel! Our most recent expedition is directly below, as I dust off my oft-ignored compact discs, to see what bonus tracks, unaffordable 45's or stone classics I have in pocket-size...some technical difficulties can't keep the twang and reverb of it all from coming through loud & clear. Dig. And further downward find my mid-December turn, with a pile of funky 45's, some deep LP cuts on the rock tip, and a 30 minute set in memorial of those late greats, Otis Redding & Sam Cooke. Listen to this one first, it will only be up for a week or so! See you next year, and thanks for listening and all your comments & e-mails - keep 'em coming!

you'll have to die for it

The Schemer

Surprise, there is a show after all! I basically only have one hand this week, so I have been dreading all the typing, sorry for the delay. But I'm a "warrior," and once scored a natural hat trick on 2 broken ankles, with a punctured lung, while unconscious - so this is nothing!

Pretty solid show this week, proving once again, the less I try, the better the show? Hmmm. Anyway, the opening set keeps a steady groove, packed with flavor - plus we have extended sets of funky and sometimes psychedelic blues, and psychedelic and occasionally rockin' pop...with quick asides for Link Wray and Willie Mitchell...for someone a-feared of typing, I'm sure rambling...Click on the Mandrake Memorial LP below to listen to the full 2-hour show, and check the playlist below when the trip turns strange!

Kid Dynamite

Back with a bang this week, as we hopscotch through various genres and burn some incense in the first hour - and spend the second hour scouring the dusty shelves of the WMBR record library, finding the fuzziest garage and the deepest of soul.
A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Thanks and thanks again to all who donated during last week's fundraiser. A special thanks to the online listeners who donated via the web, especially those who mentioned the Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye and Lost & Found blogs!

On with the show...

devil music

Midnight Falls at Noon

Apologies for the delay in getting this one up, but Blogger issues earlier in the week caused a loss of the entire playlist when I went to upload, and bitterness kept me away for the rest of the week.

Anyway, with the show falling on Halloween afternoon, how could I not come through with music of shadows and the curse of the evil eye? Please try to ignore my "scary" attemts at a Bela Lugosi impression, but to dig the spooky funk, satanic psych, and devil-dodging blues - click on the famous 'fro of "Maggot Head" below and listen - and check out the full playlist further down.

No Two-Bitters

Well, no MP3 this week - something went awry with the stream during my airtime, so this post is a bust unless you caught it live - in which case, I have supplied the playlist below, and the usual groovy pictures for the kids. New season starts today. My one year anniversary on the show, although I forgot to mention that on the program. I'm thinking of integrating some sort of "Love Connection"-esque phone-in game show along with the music. E-mail me at soulcrates@gmail.com to let me know what you think of the idea or if you would like to be a contestant* on the show. I'm rambling because there's no "click on the image to hear the show" schtick to do this week. Listen to the Sax Therapy MP3, it's only there until Wednesday. I'll be on Soul Spectrum this Sunday at 8, I'll probably make a hype post for it this week sometime, keep watching the skies.
